Micro Session Plan:

This session plan above is a rugby based session which we coached the participants at my placement. The session consisted of passing the ball backwards using the 6 o’clock pass, the reasoning for this was in a game situation players have to use this type of technique to move with the ball and as our participants had developed their passing and receiving skills with the rugby ball, we wanted them to adapt passing backwards into their basic skills.
When it comes to designing micro session plans we tend to base our structure of the session off The Coaching Planning and Reflective Framework Model, (Muir et al, 2011) in doing this we set goals and outcomes which we would like our participants to achieve at the end of the session, once we have decided this we then look at the structure of the learners performance and determine whether or not they are engaged in the session or not. This then determines how we approach the session and the behaviours of our coaching towards the participants. For example, if the participants behaviour towards the session was positive and they were determined to perform, then our coaching behaviours would be praise and positive modelling.
This session plan is just one of the micro plans which we have for the participants to learn by the end of the session. From this session especially we found that the majority of the participants managed to incorporate this skills into the practices we had lined up that day, however, as we did find at the start of the session that some participants did find it quite hard to grasp, especially participants who had never played Rugby before. Due to this we then decided to make it a micro part of our placement as for their age and stage of development it would be hard for them to develop into future practices.
Below I have more examples of Micro Plans –
Rugby Session – Sending and Receiving – Moving with the ball.

Netball Session – Passing and Receiving – Moving and using space.

Meso Plan for our Placement:

Above is our meso plan for our Rugby practicals, these were outcomes which we would have liked the participants to have achieved by the end of 1st semester.
